Choosing resolution and aspect ratio
Resolution and aspect ratio affect how long a generation takes, how much VRAM it needs, and how much detail the final image holds. Picking the right size upfront saves time.
1. Pick an aspect ratio
Choose portrait, square or landscape based on where the image will be used: portrait for phone screens or profile shots, landscape for wide scenes, square for grids and thumbnails.
2. Understand the tradeoff
Higher base resolutions produce more detail but take longer to render and need more VRAM; lower resolutions render faster and fit on GPUs with less memory. If generations are slow or fail with a memory error, drop to a smaller base size.
3. Generate at a comfortable size
Start at a resolution your GPU handles without slowing down, so you can iterate on the prompt quickly. There is little point rendering at maximum size while you are still adjusting composition or lighting.
4. Upscale afterward
Once you have a result you want to keep, run it through the upscaler instead of generating the whole image at a higher resolution from the start. This adds detail and sharpness to a result you have already chosen, without slowing down the exploration phase.
